White Sandwich Bread
Hi, everyone! We are starting the gfcf diet with my son who is almost 3 years old. I am looking for a white sandwich bread recipe (my son just love's peanut butter and jelly sandwiches). Does anyone have a good recipe? Also, it seems from reading previous messages that many of you are having a hard time baking the bread. Does anyone know where I could buy a good bread? The only bread that they have in our health food store is Food for Life White Rice Bread which is too heavy for a sandwich. Any input would be helpful. Thanks! Jean
Jean, I just broke down and ordered some white sandwich bread from Kinnikinnick's bc I hear so much about how wonderful it is. Well, it is! It is about the same price as the HFS brands, but much, much better. I tried the bread and was pretty successful(consider the source) but just didn't like the taste. Janelle

Don't let my bread flop posts scare you. I am having problems because my son is allergic to yeast. Otherwise, I probably would not have a problem. Monica
I highly recommend the recipe for Marci's soft white bread in the SDFSK's book (p.140). I just made it for the first time this weekend and although the dough was just as sticky as could be, it really turned out wonderfully. I have been having such a hard time with breads and finally felt successful with this one. I baked the bread in mini loaf pans and it made such perfect little loaves. I did have to cover with some foil toward the end of baking. I also made the Coconut Quick bread on p. 133 and it is also delicious.
Hi, everyone! I just wanted to thank everyone for all of their information on my issues with finding white sandwich bread and recipes. I got this book at Half Price Books for a real bargain, so I was doubly happy. They even put a hold on it and called me when one came in so I didn't have to check back continuously. Janette
