what is bothering my daughter
I have had my 2 yr old on diet for about a month now, with some slips. I just took her off Kool-Aid about 4 days ago. Now she is crying frequently, hitting herself in her head, and not participating in therapy at all. Is it the fruit juices bothering her or the withdrawls? I am giving her 100% of either: grape, cherry, or pear. Please tell me what any of you think is causing the behavior. Debi
How much Kool-aid was she drinking and has it now all been substituted with Fruit Juices? My thoughts are: too much sugar (even though natural) or too many salycilates, especially with the apple juice. Can you dilute the juices significantly or switch her over to water (preferably bottled) ? Just some thoughts, hope it helps. REgards, marian
This is quite a mystery. I took my 2 1/2 year old son off juice a week ago. Instead I am giving him water, ice tea or the fruit drink mix from Kirkman (which he doesn't particularly like). He has never drank anything white (milk, soy etc) and never had KoolAid. He has been banging his head ever since. He has 4 big bruises on his forehead right now. I am just thankful he got his first big bruise at his preschool. Otherwise, I would be afraid I would be accused of abuse. Monica
There is a product called FRUIT WATER. It's water with the "essence of fruit", my duaghter loves them and they have no artifical flavoring or coloring (which is a must for us). I found it in the local health food store. marian
I kind of lost who originally posted. Debi, I think. Anyway 100% pear juice-Gerber in the baby food isle. They even have them in individual serving sizes. Janelle
Idea, how about going back on the koolaid since you know she will drink it, and start to water it down?!?!? We got Grace down to 90% water 10% juice a year or so ago (and then she discovered juice boxes... mama can't hide suppliments in a juice box!) ;-) Grace kind of does the same thing, the orange dye in motrin and HiC Orange (mcD's) seems to make her feel/act better.... go figure! laurie Mom to Grace 4.7
