tonight..

Hello, Thought I'd let you know what happened tonight. I have had Tyler off of Gluten and Casein for two weeks yesterday. Well, tonight we went to my neice's bday party. I felt bad that Tyler wanted cake so I let him have a small piece. (Mind you that he has been so good and so calm for 2 weeks now.) I had the worst night with him in a LONG time!! Two hours after he had the cake he started w/ tantrums, crying, you name it!! It was a long night!! I finally settled him after EXTENSIVE OT. This diet is really working...this just proved it to me!! Thanks for letting me "vent"!! Melanie

Melanie It is good that you have this "proof" for yourself. I think we all need to have tangible examples of this from time to time. For "accidental" infringment, Dr. Lendon Smith recommended Alka Seltzer Gold (mind it has to be the Gold) or tonic water to mitigate the reaction. I live in Canada, so I have never been able to get the ASGold, but we do keep tonic water on hand and it seems to help quite a bit. Doesn't hurt to try - especially after a night like tonight. Not that tonic water will give you carte blanche to let him ditch his diet though. It is only for ACCIDENTS. You're soo right!! I did have to "prove" this to myself. I'm kinda glad I did. But thank you for the tip!! I hope we don't have any accidents soon! ;-) Melanie In a message dated 10/4/00 11:45:07 PM Eastern Daylight Time, Luvee77@... writes: << It is good that you have this "proof" for yourself. Melanie I have had the same experience - add accident or a slip up. I cannot tell you how happy I am with the diet (I am trying here..) words cannot do this properly. My son has improved greatly and eats very healthy (which is a much different story than 8 mos. ago.) This is for all the people that wonder if? Stop wondering - it really helps these kids. (And this is not meant to make anyone feel guilty who is cheating.. this diet is hard.) Take care Lisa A (Jeffs Mom)

I am so glad I found this group! All of you are wonderful! You all are so right about this working. I sometimes wonder what took me so long to find this!! (And I've only been using it for 2 weeks!!) ;-) I will stick to this no matter how hard it seems to get!!! ;-) Melanie
