Tofutti is soy!
Of course you all know that. And so did I, but was thinking about pizza and forgot that my search for Tofutti started before we decided to eliminate soy. I had already callled the 800# Andrea sent me and wrote down three more #'s before it all clicked. So, thanks anyway. BTW There must be a safflower or some other kind of margarine without soy, correct? I saw ONE at Whole Foods yesterday, but there was still soy in the minor ingredients. I am debating just eliminating soy based things like soy milk, margarine and yogurt (and the cheese we never had) but not sweating the minor traces. But, if there is a brand name without any soy I'll buy that instead. Thanks Kris
Kris: Also, the manufacturer of Tofutti cheese won't guarantee that it's gluten-free. We have found a very acceptable substitute for many people on the diet is to use rice lasagna as if it were cheese. We boil it until it's very soft and then lay it on top just like cheese. Make sure you cover all the lasagna with pizza sauce so it doesn't get crisp in the oven. It doesn't melt, but it looks like cheese, is soft and is quite tasty. It seems to work for a lot of kids we deal with. Nadine Gilder Autism Educational Services ngilder@...
