Thimerosal-Free Vaccinations
I just read the article, "Mercury and Autism: Coincidence or Cause and Effect?" by Lyn Redwood, RN, MSN, CRNP that was featured in the July/August 2000 edition of the Autism/Asperger's Digest. What an excellent article and at the end she lists the vaccines that are thimerosal (mercury)-free. I will list them here: Vaccine Name Brand Name Manufacturer Hepatitis A Havrix SmithKline Beecham Vaqta [none] Merck IPB IPOL Pasteur Merieux Connaught OPV Orimune Lederle Labs MMR MMR-II Merck Varicella Varivax Merck Rotavirus Rotashield Wyeth-Ayerst Lyme LYMErix SmithKline Beecham I highly recommend the article. I have given copies to every mother of young kids I know and they have all thanked me. We found a doctor in town who is only giving thimerosal-free vaccines. My own pediatrician argues with me about the "lack of evidence". I just want to scream!!!! I gave him a copy and told his nurse that my kids will not get another vaccination unless it is thimerosal-free. So if your doctor says he/she "can't" provide these vaccines, call around and find one who will. THERE ARE DOCTORS OUT THERE WHO ARE GIVING THESE. Don't accept ANY EXCUSES from your doctor. Lisa This info is GREAT. My son is due for his MMR and DPT this November. His Pedi is really great as far as working with me to do anything to help Nik, he even had his nurse call around and find the vaccines without mercury and set up to have them delivered the week before Nik is due. We also took blood this week to check for titers for MMR and if Nik has titers his Pedi will sign off that he was not in need of his MMR. My question yo you is the DPT, the Pedi nurse told me that Diptheria and Tetanus arre NOT made without Mercury ( Is this true )?? What about the Pertussis? And the DT ONLY comes in one shot not separately. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hugs, Terry.B ( Beeda111@... )
It is my understanding that the Pertussis is what you need to worry about in the DPT shot. Maybe that is why the DT come together. But Tetanus does come in a separate shot, maybe not the diphtheria. Betty in Central California
