starch is the same as tapioca flour and I usually get mine at
the oriental or Indian market.

We tried it when we first started using a hand mill and the large pearl tapioca. I found it far easier to just buy tapioca starch but if you can't get it, it would be an option.

Is the regular tapioca you get in the supermarket ok ? (the kind to make the
pudding like stuff.)
Also, any soy subs you guys can offer would e appreciated. I have found thhat
harder to sub than the casein stuff.

OK, This is probably a silly question, to the pont of me feeling awkward about
asking it, but is tapioca pudding the same as tapioca starch flour? I'd been
seeing it off and on through out various recipes and had wondered for some time
now. Tina

No it's different. Tapioca starch is a fine powder, like cornstarch or potato
starch. You can find it at health food stores. Ener-G packages it.LL

Tina...
Don't think that's a silly question! :o) We're all learning here.
I have a question too re: tapioca. I once ordered a case of Tapioca pearls
rather than the starch...by accident! Has anyone had any success grinding
this into a flour/starch? And if so...would it end up being the starch or
more like a flour? I don't have a grinder (but I covet them! :o0) but
wondering if a blender would do the trick!?
TIA

I tried grinding it with a hand mill once and while it sort of worked, it was
very hard to grind and it stayed pretty gritty because I couldn't grind it fine
enough.
Better to use it for pudding made with coconut milk - smile
