These recipes just came in on the frozen assests list. We will need to experiment for ourselves to get the recipe that works for us. Sweetened Milk Here is one that will freeze! It is much more rich - and a friend tells me it is more like the Eagles Brand too. 1 cup hot water 2 cups sugar 2 cups non-fat dry milk powder (instant powdered milk) 6 tablespoons melted butter or margarine Blender Measure your hot water into the blender. (CAREFUL! Don't use boiling water - you just want water hot enough to help melt the sugar. The force of the blender does a lot of the work) Add the sugar and zap until dissolved. Add dry milk powder and melted butter or margarine. Put the lid on the blender and whirl it around for a full minute. The mixture will be kind of thin, but will thicken up after standing for about an hour. This recipe makes about 3 cups, or the equivalent of two cans of condensed milk. divide between two pint sized canning jars. Store them in the fridge for a week. Or for longer storage, freeze them for a few months, and then just thaw before using. A can of this stuff is usually about 12 ounce - which is what 1/2 a recipe will be. and another one: Sweetened Condensed Milk Description: substitute this recipe for Eagle Brand Milk in any recipe Ingredients: 1 C. nonfat powdered milk (dry) 2/3 c. sugar 1/3 c. boiling water 3 T. butter Directions: Combine all ingredients in container of electric blender or food processor; process until smooth. Store in refrigerator until ready to use. Makes the equivalent of 1 can milk.
