Steamed Sorghum
My mom used to make streamed wheat when I was a child and it was a wonderful breakfast or after school snack. Stemmed sorghum is similiar. I tried to cook sorghum like I used to cook rice this week and it took longer than I had that day. This morning I put some in the little crockpot with water and let it cook for about 6 hours on high. I then put some spices on and it is really good. I now have 3 alternatives when a dish calls for rice (wild rice, hulled unroasted buckwheat and sorghum). If anyone is interested, I measure next time so I have an approximate water to sorghum ratio. It was probably 3:1 or 4:1. Joanne
